I’ve spent over 25 years creating nutrition-led menus across the UK and beyond, rooted in a deep belief: food is powerful medicine. But, like many of us, I spent years juggling life, deadlines and expectations—putting my own health last.
After a major health scare during the pandemic and hitting into peri-menopause, I felt pressure to "bounce back" and that I should be a perfect picture of wellness. When I couldn’t, I thought I was failing. It wasn’t a quick fix. It took time, restarts, and a lot of unlearning. What I came to realise is this: Wellness isn’t perfection. It’s self-compassion. It’s tuning back in—slowly, gently, honestly.
